Lilies

True lilies, the large trumpet-shaped Asiatic and Oriental kinds, are flowers for vases and bouquets rather than for threading, so they play a small part in traditional South-Asian garland work. Their pollen also stains silk and zari, which is one more reason they are kept away from bridal outfits.

The lily that does belong to this tradition is the tuberose, sold in Indian markets as the gulchadi or rajnigandha lily. Its long white florets give the scent and the white body to most of our varmala, strings and bridal flower jewellery, and that is where we suggest you look first. For a lighter piece for the wrist, our jasmine kangan sit in this category as the closest everyday alternative.

For a wedding, tuberose varmala, strings and veni can be made to match the outfit colours, depending on what reaches the Dubai market that week. Message us with the date and colour and we will confirm what is possible.

Lilies in Dubai – questions & answers

Can I order a lily garland?

Large lilies are not threaded into garlands because their heavy heads and pollen do not suit it. If you want the lily look and scent in a garland, choose tuberose, the rajnigandha lily, which is strung into varmala, strings and bridal jewellery every day at our workshop.

Can you supply Oriental lilies for a bridal bouquet?

Often, yes, but it depends on what arrives at the Dubai flower market that week. Send the date, colour and number of stems on WhatsApp a few days ahead. If lilies are not available we will offer a like-for-like alternative of equal or greater value.

Will lily pollen damage a wedding outfit?

It can. Lily pollen leaves orange-brown marks on silk, chiffon and zari that are hard to remove. When we prepare lilies on request we remove the anthers first. If pollen does touch fabric, lift it with tape rather than rubbing, and avoid water until it is gone.

Do you deliver lilies the same day?

Yes. Order by 6 PM (UAE time) for same-day delivery in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman, seven days a week; delivery to Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain is next day. You choose the delivery date and a time slot at checkout.

Can I add a message card?

Yes. Write your card message at checkout – we print it and attach it to the flowers.

Which areas do you deliver to?

All seven UAE emirates: Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman same day when you order by 6 PM; Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain next day.

How much does delivery cost?

In Dubai delivery costs AED 19–59 depending on the order value. The exact fee for your emirate is shown at checkout before you pay.
